What is Paediatric Rheumatology?
Paediatric Rheumatology encompasses the management of a broad range of inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases involving the musculoskeletal system as well as multiple other systems. Paediatric Rheumatologists care for children from newborns through to adolescents.
Conditions managed by Paediatric Rheumatologists include:
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- Post infectious and reactive arthritis
- Juvenile Dermatomyositis
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
- Vasculitis
- Periodic fever syndromes such as Familial Mediterranean Fever
- Non inflammatory pain syndromes including Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
- Sports related pain
