COVID-19 Update

To our MCPC community,

We understand that there is much concern in the medical and wider community about COVID-19. While COVID-19 does not seem to present a high risk to young people, many of our patients are immunosuppressed or have chronic illness and may be more vulnerable. We also have a broader responsibility to protect other vulnerable members of our community.

We are currently working to provide a safe environment for our staff, patients and doctors and we ask that you are aware of our current policy prior to attending an appointment at MCPC.

  1. The health and safety of our patients, their families, our staff and doctors is a priority.
  2.  Any patient with fever and/or upper/lower respiratory tract illness (cough/cold) will be asked by staff to reschedule their appointment.
  3. Patients who have travelled overseas in the past 14 days OR patients who have upper/ lower respiratory symptoms should not enter the practice and should call to reschedule their appointment.
  4. Patients with suspected COVID-19 infection should be seen by a dedicated testing clinic.
  5. Following check in at reception we ask that patients and their parent/guardian wait in their car to avoid unnecessary waiting in close proximity to staff and other patients.
  6. We ask that consultations are attended by as few accompanying adults as possible. Preferably one parent/guardian per patient. Where possible please do not attend with siblings or other children.
  7. We have hand sanitiser at reception and we will request patients use it. We also ask that patients wash hands on entry to and exit from consulting rooms. Our administrative staff and our doctors will be frequently sanitising surfaces before and after consultations and adhering to strict hand sanitiser precautions.
  8. Please respect the current recommendations pertaining to social distancing and reduced physical contact.
  9. Telehealth appointments are an alternative to face-to-face consultations. Many of our doctors are offering Telehealth appointments. Please discuss with reception if you would rather be consulted remotely via Skype or FaceTime.

Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.
