Dr Amanda Day
General Paediatrician with a special interest in Allergy
Dr Amanda Day is a General Paediatrician with additional expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases including food allergy, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, eczema, urticaria (hives), angioedema and anaphylaxis. She offers skin prick testing for food and inhalant allergens.
Dr Day has benefitted from excellent local and international training and experience. She studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne and underwent specialist Paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. She obtained her Masters (distinction) in Allergy at Imperial College, London, then worked as the Paediatric Allergy Fellow in Cambridge University Teaching Hospital, Addenbrooke’s.
In Cambridge, Dr Day was mentored by prominent international allergists including Dr Andrew Clarke, Dr Pamela Ewan, and the current president of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Dr Shuaib Nasser. There, she was part of the team setting up the first British peanut allergy desensitisation clinic for children, Cambridge Peanut Allergy Clinic (CPAC.)
Dr Day also works in the Royal Children’s Hospital Allergy Department and teaches medical trainees at Monash Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the Australian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and consults for their anaphylaxis committee. She is also a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
She loves managing all general paediatric patients as well as those suffering allergic diseases and prides herself on passionate, up to date, comprehensive care.
